Is it enough? What should I do?

It seems I am in a bit of a difficult position. I am applying to MBA programs this month and recently took the GMAT.

I scored a 40 in the verbal section (89%), 6.0 (91%) for the AWA and a 28 (21%) for the quantitative section. Total score was 570.
My GPA for undergrad was a 3.7 and I have strong references.

I did poorly on the math section for the sole reason that I did not manage my time. I was so concerned with answering the first questions correctly, that i took extra time to check the answers. Subsequently (I think) GMAC gave me more difficult questions and thus, I took even longer to be sure i did each question correctly. I ended up completing just barely half of the section before I timed out. It know HOW to do the questions and can do it in the time...i just messed up. Now what?

Applications are due Feb. 1st. So I can't take the test again before then. I have already had the scores sent to the schools. Should I retake the test and hope the schools will consider it? Try to work it into my essays for admission? What should I do?

Your score is very imbalanced so no school will be happy. Take a retest if you can and asap; just organize your time well.

I had a score that was similar to yours in its balance, though a little stronger in the quant section. What is your undergrad major? If it is in finance, economics, stats etc then you can make a case that your quant skills are indeed sufficient for your program. If you took poli sci,or some other humanities you may be in trouble and have to apply next term.
