GMAT score: 690
Quant: 51

GPA: 2.8

I am aiming for colleges like
London Business School,
Northwestern University (Kellogg),
University of Pennsylvania (Wharton),
Carnegie Mellon University (Tepper),
New York University: Stern
Yale School of Management

Some of them could be too far fetched but trying to keepmy hopes for the best possible.

I wish to study general Management, Operations Management or Enterprenuership.

The reason I am little unsure of admission to these colleges is because, my academic background has not been so bright in the undergrad.. and the GMAT score is also not above 700 which would be expected for many good business schools.

Please let me know if there is any scope selection of my profile application in the above mentioned B-schools. it would be great if you could suggest some of the best possible colleges for the profile.

Thank you.

There is a marginal difference between a 690 and a 700, so don't beat yourself up. Having said that, you are indeed in a broad applicant pool, so distinguishing yourself is important. Since many in your pool have a 700+ GMAT, you should look to other strengths to stand out. I like your creative side, as evidenced by your music and acting background. International work experience is also a plus. Make sure you hammer out a clear vision of what you want to do post MBA, since schools will be looking to reject applicants who come across as unsure of what they want to do yet. Let us know if we can help hone your approach.

Thank you Bryant, atleast now I know there's a possibility to get through a university.

I am looking forward for a course ahead for operational management. The target is to get into a IT infrastructure management in the telecom sector industries. However, I was looking forward to study in London Business School. With the current profile, would it be possible to get through to LBS if i prepare a good my application essay?

Concern is, as i stated earlier, the low GPA. Would the GPA be overlooked and the latter success be considered?

In short, yes. The longer you are out of UG, the more your career achievements will matter and the less your GPA will matter. I personally got into a top 5 program with a 2.9 GPA, but I had 8 years WE when I went back. See the correlation? The key will be having made a substantial mark in your career and being able to articulate the progress and responsibility.

Hi,

I'm applying in below universities, but not sure if getting in these would be possible with my profile. Also, a correction in my profile. I have a UG-GPA of 2.48 on 4 point scale.
4.5 years experience with 7 organizational awards to my credit.
GMAT score - 690
seeking MBA in Organizational / Information Systems.

University of North Carolina--Chapel Hill (Kenan-Flagler)
Boston College (Carroll)
University of Wisconsin--Madison
Purdue University--West Lafayette (Krannert)
Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey

Please let me know if applying in above business schools would be sufficient.
In case you feel that I might need to apply in more colleges then which colleges can I target.

Thank you

i think you should have a shot at these schools for sure. your good GMAT score should balance out your GPA. you might also look at Kelley School of Business. Good luck! Remember, it's all about the story you tell. One advantage at your target schools is that they do not receive nearly as many international applicants as other schools in the top 10 for example.

What is the scenario for a scholarship in these colleges. I fear high fees in such colleges because repaying loan becomes a big problem at a later stage and if one doesn't get a job in US payback of loan is near to impossible.

Some schools do not grant scholarships or loans to international applicants and others have scholarships and loans specifically for international applicants, so it would be best to contact the admissions offices of your target schools to begin inquiring about oppportunities for financial aid directly. There is no formula since it varies by school. One thing is certain, however; winning scholarships at any school is a very competitive process, so begin now drilling into your achievements to craft a unique story which stands out from the crowd.
