Please evaluate my profile-UCLA FEMBA

by Sgnillens » Sun Jan 08, 2012 7:53 am
And the part-time MBA journey continues. I took the GMAT yesterday and scored a 650 (47V/37Q). I ran out of time and didn't finish either section, but am satisfied with my GMAT improvement from a score of 560 a few months ago. I would like to attend UCLA's FEMBA program, but I am not sure if I should take the GMAT again? I feel as though I left something on the table and can still improve by 30 points or so.

I have a B.A. In Economics from UC Davis and I graduated with a 3.89 overall GPA (3.92 for my major). I only have 2 years of work experience in consulting and insurance under my belt. With a GMAT of 650, do I have a shot at UCLA FEMBA or should I re-take the exam?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Thanks for your post. When it comes to deciding whether or not to retake the GMAT, my advice is to always trust your instincts. If you truly feel you can improve your score then my advice is to retake the exam. Your current score, while a huge improvement (congrats) over your last score, is still below average for the program and thus you'll have to compensate for this in other areas of your application.

Ask yourself this - if you apply with your current score and don't get in, will you regret that you didn't retake the exam?

Best,

Stacey
