There are several ways to build solid walls using just mud or clay, but the most extensively used method has been the forming of bricks out of mud or clay,and, after some preliminary air drying or sun drying, they are laid in the wall in mud mortar.

here there are two actions :
- forming of bricks out of mud or clay
- are laid in the wall in mud mortar

and hence we have to make that two action parallel.

Only d does that :

- to form the mud or clay into bricks
- to lay them in the wall in mud mortar

Actions: lay and form , verb phrases must be parallel. "after some preliminary air drying or sun drying," is modifier for 2nd verb phrase.

C - Not parallel and change of tense
