How is Macquarie Business School (MGSM)?

by Charan » Fri Oct 28, 2011 2:47 am
I am looking to get admission for an MBA program. My background is in IT with nearly 5 years experience. At this stage of my career, i am considering MBA because i want to make a move to management side of IT (in coming years). Because i care about the brand name, i have thought of Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM). So far what i have found, they have quite good reputation locally and internationally. Has anyone in the forum has any personal level experience with MGSM? Someone who is studying there or a graduate from this school? What to expect etc.

Hi

You should have minimum of 2 years work-ex which I believe you have. Academic program is rigorous.

Placements and career services are something they are working real hard on but not many employers find it really pushing to go and recruit at MGSM.

I dont think they ask for GMAT.

I want to know more about MGSM

My Profile

Worked in Indian Media Sector : Newscorp & Viacom
Wrk Ex: 5 years
High Points: Have worked with all major FMCG brands like HUL & P&G in the Indian market offering brand solutions, so have a lot to offer in terms of class room participation & LOR's
MBA End game: Actively look at Aus a destination on completion of MBA

Questions
What is the ROI on MGSM -do you get placed - the cost of the course is around 3OL INR.
Do Sales people find jobs in AUS Sydney in the Media Sector
Is the Media Sector Vibrant in Sydney & Growing?
Isnt there a major racism issue in Sydney & they are not open to Indians on their turf?
PR issue - you need 2 years of study while I am looking at a 1 year course -so how does one work around that?
If one has to move abroad isnt APAC China S'pore a better bet than AUS since cost of living is super high in AUS?

I will be very happy if some one can help decode the MGSM MBA ? Thank you very much.
