Selecting recommendation providers

by shreerajp99 » Sat Dec 17, 2011 7:26 am
I had informed 1 of my earlier onshore supervisors to give a recommendation and 1 lady with whom I had worked at a NGO.But it seems that we need 2 professional recommendations,so the options that i have are:
1 from my previous project onsite supervisor + 1 from my previous project direct supervisor(he has left the company and i think both of them will provide similar content)
1 from my 1st project onsite supervisor(he has also resigned) + 1 from my previous project direct supervisor(now that both of them have left the company, there will be no reco from my current company and that will look odd or will it be ok?)
I actually wanted to avoid telling my current supervisor to provide a reco but it seems i am not left with any option. Can you guys suggest something here?Should i stick to my original plan of 1 workplace reco+1 NGO reco?
Also, will getting an onsite recommendation hurt my chances or add credit to my application(i have always worked with the offshore team).
Thanks for reading!

Well your NGO person CAN be a professional recommender as long as she OVERSAW you, and is not just a buddy. If you do go with two people form the same company, you do gotta try and get something a BIT different. If they are gonna write the same thing, then it's better to seek elsewhere.

As for onsite/offsite recommendation - the best is to go with someone who know your work well, and who likes you a lot.

Hope that helps you decide.
