200 Point Increase! I beat it!!

by Mags112 » Mon Nov 28, 2011 9:03 am
So I JUST got back from my gmat exam, just got in trouble because I was so excited, I wrote my score on my hand, which apparently i wasn't allowed to do. BUT I started studying 2 months ago, scoring a terrible 420 on my first test..and then I took about 6 practice tests after that, having trouble scoring even a 600 with my busy schedule. I'm not getting into an ivy league so I would have been okay with even a 550, which ended up being my goal. But after taking it today, I exceeded my expectations and got a 620! (Q43, V33), I know it's not up in the 700's but I am so proud and happy that I did way better than I thought. I cannot thank beatthegmat enough!!!!!! :) :)

Mags! Congrats! My goals are similar to yours. I bombed my pre-test and have felt really discouraged. I have been studying nonstop and hope when it's time to take another CAT practice I will increase. We will see what happens. This gives me hope.

Thanks guys! It was definitely very hard. I commute an hour to work both ways, so I had to study whenever I could. I studied on the train and at home and on my lunch breaks. I tried to do 2 hours each day for 2 months, I followed the 60 day study guide which REALLY helped me out. Then the last week before, I took the gmat prep 2 just once, did a little studying, went out with friends, and tried not to worry about it at all. I know I could've done way better on verbal, but it's good enough for me to get into my school so I'm happy with it! Alot of the reason why I think I bombed my practice ones was my environment. My house is never completely silent and I think I concentrated way better at the actual exam. I hope I can give you guys some hope, it can definitely be done!!!
