I think usage of non countable word amount is wrong in option B

in my humble opinion, this is not GMAT quality question, because there is not one credible answer here!

A)uses two verbs at a time: produces and double;

B) we can use amount with plural nouns, for example: the amount of phosphates according to OG 11 #62; i think, the problem here is that instead of "as", "that" should be used;

example: each of the women can do twice the work that each of the men can do in a given time

C) the word order is reversed: twice as many grapes as";

D) "there were" creates ambiguity;

E)"a doubling", there is not such term;
