690 (Q48, V35) Can I consider applying to ISB?

Hi,
I am a software professional working for a multinational IT services company and have 3+ years of work ex and a decent acads and above average extra curriculars. Recently took GMAT test and scored a 690 in GMAT.

I am considering applying to ISB. Is it reasonable enough for me to consider applying to ISB or any other to schools?

Also please suggest me a few schools which I can consider applying to. Thanks in advance

Hi Gmatter -- yes this profile does qualify you for the ISB, we've heard of others in Rd 1 with similar profiles get accepted in the last week or so. Your 690 is a good score, you should be proud of that! ISB, as all top schools, looks for quality of work experience over quantity, and they will of course be interested in your ECs etc. It's how you present your stories that is the make-or-break factor. Your challenge of course is that it sounds like you have a profile that is somewhat similar to lots of other candidates, so those stories are how you can differentiate yourself. The schools are all looking for examples of leadership and impact; they want to see how you're ahead of your peer group and you've made solid contributions in different environments.

It's tough to recommend any other schools for you without knowing your career goals and interests, and what other attributes of a school that matter to you (small school, large school, urban, rural, etc.). If you're interested in going to the US or Europe for your education, then you'll need to express to the adcom why that choice is important, based on how it will help you achieve your specific goals. So choice of school mostly depends not just on the basic "stats" of the profile like GMAT and grades, but also very specifically on what you want to do with the MBA and why.

If you want to offer a few more details along those lines, we can try and suggest a couple schools to consider. With a 690 GMAT, you are technically qualified for most any school in the world.

Looking at previous class profile at ISB the students scored in the range of 670-760 with an average Mean 709. Make sure you balance the profile well and plan the things to utilize your time properly across different activities that play vital role in getting admission and your profile building.
GMAT alone won't determine your chances of admission; academics, beyond the academics will and your work experience plays a vital role as well.

A 690 is good enough, given their average GMAT score. Now that that's int he bag, you just gotta work on all the rest...
