I am from India and plan to seek admission in 2013 (US B-Schools). But the present scenario of recession and tightening of policies is raising my concern about the placements after completing MBA.

Is there any downward trend in placements of international candidates? If yes, what would you recommend?

Yes, there is a downtrend in placements of international candidates since the financial meltdown. This is not surprising since the major economies are experiencing a slowdown. In such a situation, why would companies go through all visa troubles/uncertainties when they can easily hire local candidates.

Nothing to recommend really. Introspect and make sure that you need an International MBA. Go to the best brand school that you can get into, and network like crazy.
