Not in R2. R2 chances are similar to R1.

The reason is cause all the places are filled, there are enough people on waitlists to fill the classes, and they are just holding out for amazing candidates (better than those on the waitlist already) who are last minute.

Is there any statistic around that tells us by what factor the chances for getting in dwindles with each passing round?

This is accurate for Round 3. Your chances are pretty much the same Round 2 as they are for Round 1.

R2 is almost the same as R1 because there is an unstated but quora of seats. R3 chances are definitely less than R2/R1.

In round 3 yes compared to 1-2 it becomes competitive. But between round 1 and 2 given your application is equally strong in both rounds- you should be fine.
