Sentence Correction - Problems

by sherryavi » Mon Nov 14, 2011 2:58 pm
Hi

I started my Sentence Correction basics from Princeton Review and also flipped pages of the OG.

I made a lot of things very clear and straight to me that the GMAT English rules are above the ear. It is not necessary that the sentence looks and sounds good.

I followed the approach to check, the 8-9 set of known errors that are asked frequently in GMAT, how to identify and correct them. Also I kept myself ready for the Plan B, when I am unable to make sense of the question and the error in the sentence and have to read the answer choices to make out the error.

I could barely get through the first 40 questions, and I switched to the same hear and see concept to grab my errors.

Also following the above approach I was unable to bring that breakthrough performance, which I was expecting. No, I am not expecting over night wonders or my grammar to get better in a day, nor I have hoped to see an exponential growth, but I should be able to see some changes that make me feel that I am on the correct path - CORRECT APPROACH TO SC Questions.

By now I have finished more than a 110 Questions of 140 Questions of OG - 12th Edition, but could manage only a 45-50% correct.
This rate of errors on the final day will surely bring down my overall score exponentially.

I request the experts to please help me strategize my study plan for SC. I am not being ambitious but expect a minimum of 60-70% chance of getting questions correct.

Have you tried Manhattan SC or Powerscore SC ? If not, then go for it. Both supplement OG-12 very well.

Manhattan SC is the bible for GMAT SC. I would request you to go through it once along with OG. All the

Powerscore SC wont be of any help, as you have already tried MGMAT SC.
