I took the gmat earlier today and recieved a dissapointing 610. I had been targeting schools like NYU and Columbia as first choices. I am a bit discouraged and now unsure if I should continue with the application process. I am aiming for fall 2012. Below is some backgroud.
Graduated 2008 from Ivy League school ....although low gpa <2.5
Founded an events planning company as undergrad and was memeber or varsity sports team
Have 3.5 years experience at asset management firm as an investment strategist, would be 4 at matriculation
Have completed cfa progem, chater pending.
I am looking to stay within asset management to further pursue a career as portfolio manager.
I realize with low undergrad gpa I needed more horsepower on the gmat, which as it stands doesn't appear to be much. Any insight as to likely hood of being able to still apply to columbia/nyu or other schools that may be more attainable given backgroud. Perhaps UNC or Georgetown
Thanks
