D: correlate as strongly with good health as with moderate drinking (It should be as it correlates with moderate drinking) does in option A does this for us!

E: correlate as strongly with good health as ------- moderate drinking , the -------es are to be filled,but missing!!

Is the question correct? Please underline the question and check the question. I spent 15 minutes just trying to justify that the sentence with choice A is correct...the choice A is written differently from the question - the main sentence.

I trapped in this one. After 10 minutes evaluation I think I got it.

The questions compares 1) total abstinence from alcohol AND 2) moderate drinking WITH 3) good health
If we pick D, we say that 'total abstinence from alcohol' does not correlate as strongly with 'moderate drinking'; D is grammatically correct, but in terms of meaning, it doesn't make sense.

A. as strongly with good health as does moderate drinking ... it correctly closes the idiom as/as. no change in the meaning.

B. strongly with good health, like moderate drinking does ... like cannot modify a phrasal noun

C. as strongly with good health as does moderately drinking ... meaning change, moderately modifies the verb does.

D. as strongly with good health as with moderate drinking ... meaning change, it seems that abstinence from alcohol doesn't correlate strongly either with good health or with moderate drinking. (am I correct?)

E. as strongly with good health as moderate drinking ... missing the verb, what moderate drinking does or does not?

It should be A.
