C which wrong
D those unclear

A....."Species from THAT" is wrong...ignore it.
B...looks good...they refers to flies correctly, species...those combination is correct, and "this assists" correctly refers to the whole phenomena.

C...use of which is wrong.
D and E...what is assisting? ignore.

I will go with B

The ans is E, i went with D. after rereading the question I see those is ambiguous.

Something happened to my first post on this one... must have not loaded.

I will weigh in waaaay late here and say that E is the answer also!

A and B -- 'and apparently' is incorrect as 'and' is uneccessary.
C -- 'which' is incorrect
D -- 'to taste' is the problem with this one. hydrocarbons assist whichever flies taste them, they don't assist the flies to actually taste hydrocarbons.
E -- correct
