Resume Questions

by AG114 » Fri Oct 21, 2011 6:47 pm
Hi! I have a few questions regarding resumes for applications.

1. Is it appropriate to omit your contact info at the top? I was told that was not necessary to include, but want to make sure.

2. When listing jobs, is it ok to include a brief blurb underneath the title either describing what the company does or your role before listing bullet points? i thought that would help my accomplishments listed underneath to stand out more.

3. Do you know of any recent templates to go off of for application resumes? Or are there any places to browse resumes of admitted students(top schools)? The latter would be preferable!

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for your post. Please see my comments below:

You need not include it, but unless there is a very specific reason why you don't wish to do so, I would include it.

2. When listing jobs, is it ok to include a brief blurb underneath the title either describing what the company does or your role before listing bullet points? i thought that would help my accomplishments listed underneath to stand out more.

It's always a good idea to spell out your role. Don't assume that adcom members know everything - plus writing out your role can really help you stand out, especially if you have more responsibilities than most of your peers in the same role.

3. Do you know of any recent templates to go off of for application resumes? Or are there any places to browse resumes of admitted students(top schools)? The latter would be preferable!

I don't have templates or samples to share publicly. I do have samples I share with clients. We also sell our resume guide which you can purchase through our blog www.blog.clearadmit.com. This is a great resource!
