Consumers used to purchase designer clothing because designer clothing was of better workmanship and was made of higher quality materials than was other clothing. However, with many high-end designers now producing low-cost capsule collections for mass market retailers, a designer label is no longer a guarantee that the clothing will be of higher quality than similarly priced non-designer clothing. Interestingly, however, designer clothing has become even more highly sought after in recent years.
The paradox described is best resolved by which of the following, if true?
A Consumers believe that a designer label assures them that the clothing to which that label is affixed is as high in quality as any similarly priced non-designer clothing.
B Many consumers are concerned about the possibility of sweatshop labor playing a role in the production of designer clothing.
C Successful designers sometimes license their names for use on collections that they actually play no role in creating.
D The internet makes it easier than ever for young designers to get exposure for their work and make a name for themselves.
E Designer collections sold at mass market retailers are often priced as reasonably as are similar non-designer goods sold at the same stores.
OA:
A . When we say as high in quality as any similarly priced non-designer clothing how does it help resolve the paradox. Why is not E a better option?
