In contrast with the way he argued with his parents, Jonas was actually quite happy about his having to go away to camp for the summer.

A. his having to go away to camp for the summer.
B. him having to go away to camp for the summer.
C. his having to be going away to camp for the summer.
D. himself having to go away to camp for the summer.
E. him having to be going away to camp for the summer.

to me the answer is A...
before "-ing" we use 'his'
so choices B D E are out... choice C says "his having to be" which is wordy. then A will ne the correct one

I read below points on net and may be useful to get correct Answer here

a pronoun modifying a gerund must be in the possessive case, which is "his" not "him"
The gerund is "having".

So you can eliminate B, D, E.
usually with a gerund the infinitive form of the verb is used such as "to go" rather than "to be going". eliminate C.

The answer is A.
