Profile Evaluation-Indian male gmat 680

Hi,

I gave the GMAT recently and have 3 years of work-ex in the Oil and gas Sector in India.My details are enlisted below:
1. GMAT= 680
2. Work Ex= 40 mths in the oil sector, out of which majority has been in logistics and distribution.Have recorded some path breaking achievements for my company under adverse circumstances. I was twice nominated for the outstanding achievements by my supervisors and colleagues which can suitably substantiated in my apps.
3. extra Curriculars: Plenty during my undergrad days.Convenor of annual fest,chief editor of college mag, Secretary of cultural activity club, VP of technical society, numerous prizes in quizzing(national as well as international level), debates, elocution, writing, paper presentations etc.The trend was picked up from school where also I had a good record.However,could not continue the good work after I left my college
4. GPA: 9.07/10 ...I dunno how thats converted in the 5.0 GPA system .

Dear acidburn28,

You have some positives in the minimal profile you posted. You appear to have quality work experience in an industry that is not the norm for an engineer/technical person in India. Your GPA is high and you had solid involvement in college. However, you have other areas that could be a potential weakness for you including a lack of activities since college and a low GMAT relative to both top school GMAT averages and similar Indian applicants. As with any aspiring MBA, you want to target a mix of schools to give yourself the best chance for admission, keeping in mind your total profile. You might consider retaking the GMAT to increase your score at least 20 points to put you in a more competitive range for top 10 global programs--just don't sacrifice your essays for GMAT prep.
