Starting now for GMAT, Target 725+

by vikassingh03 » Thu Sep 29, 2011 3:34 pm
Hi Guys,
I have been a regular reader for this forum and have just started studying for GMAT and want to beat the gmat. I am from India with currently located in US and working for an IT firm with 7.5 years of experience. I want to give 90 days for my prep and then attempt for GMAT. I am planning to give 2-3 hours per day and 4-5 hours on weekend on an average for studying. I have OG12 and Kaplan book. I am planning to start with brushing up some stuff and then trying to give a GMAT prep test to see where I am and I know that my verbal is weak so I am going to give more stress on that esp RC. Let me know what do u think I need to focus more to get my target score. I have decided to not get disappointed seeing my GMAT prep score and will fight till I get my desired score.

I gave my GMAT Prep first test today and scored a miserable 600( Q 47 , V26). I was expecting 650, but finally I saw a big disappointment. I did the analysis for the test and found that I had made lots of mistake in quant of median, probability, DS type questions which I think I will be able to improve more if I practice and can target for 50 in Quant. But I need to improve a lot on my verbal and try to being it to 33-34 so that I can come close to my target score. My mostly questions wrong in verbal were of SC and CR. As a surprise my RC was ok, some 3-4 wrong. I am going now to concerntrate on verbal now with 75% weightage to verbal and 20% to quant and continue for one month and then try to give another test after a month(Gmat prep) and see where I land as I feel that will give me a better picture of where I stand after 1 month from now. I have decided I will not give up on this and try to achieve on my target score. Any other thoughts guys on how I can improve ?? I have OG, MGMAT SC and Kaplan premier . I am planning to finish atleast OG and MGMAT SC before my next attempt for GMAT prep. I am looking for valuable suggestion from you guys !!
