Starting to think GMAT is a scam!

by maxis » Mon Jul 25, 2011 3:33 am
I don't need to explain how hard I've prepared for the GMAT. I've been getting 600 on my mock test which were timed and also wrote the essay.

Took the test last June and got 390- Q25 V19

Took it again today and got 480- Q31 V26

I'm sorry if I sound hostile and all. I'm just extremely frustrated. I took the test today and answered all the essay, quant and verbal on time. Felt no nervousness.

But I did notice one thing, when I was doing my quant I was wondering, 'where are all the hard questions?'

I already have a masters degree and the reason I took a GMAT was so I can pursue a specialized second masters in an accredited business school. (the school's minimum GMAT requirement is 550)

I'm not keen to spend another $250 just to take the test the third time.

Again, apologies for my rudeness.

fact#1 if you scored 700+ there would be no way for you to score below 500-s, but you scored lower than 700

fact#2 you are right, GMAT is a scam but a good scam, in terms of letting you trust your brutal prep and be confident content wise, while the actual exam does test brain processing capacity too. Example, I know where is my left-hand-side (LHS), I am able to navigate my body to LHS, but I need time to recognize the pattern and develop responsive reflex. If I am quick then I will respond immediately, otherwise I will stop to think, remember and then act

fact#3 don't pay another $250 for GMAT exam, unless you score 700+ in your mock tests

I am also starting to think this
I scored680 and 620s in my book tests and also my mock tests gave me 540 and 550
the exam day slapped me with a 490 and i was sooo aggravated

i realize book practice questions don't account for adaptive testing but still i already have a masters degree and wanted to go do an MBA

i really am not willing to spend another 250 bucks on this, it really is not worth it
considering i just got laid off so im watching my money!!

Is there any decent way to study for the GMAT!!! because regardless of your intelligence the books will give you a false hope which is worse than not helping at all!!!

people with IT background able to solve hard combination and number theory problems from the GMAT paper versions want to practice by taking some two, three hundreds of math questions in the timed manner - i know, because my friends scoring decently in exam are IT-echs

still on exam, these people feel conversely shuttered-stoned-hungry and eventually winner like

all it takes to score high in GMAT is to practice, practice and practice ...

i felt the same way when doing my quant on gmat-where are the hard questions.
The problem i realized was with DS, i was getting most of the stuff wrong(i think i was).

I dont know if you have tried the knewton free gmat test, but it gives u a pretty accurate representation of where u are since everything including the RC passages is a spin off from OG/GPrep.
