Profile Evaluation

Hi Stacy,

Could you please take a look at my profile and let me know if I have a chance to be admitted by a Top-10 MBA program? Thanks in advance.

Undergraduate school: Top 2 university in China
Undergraduate major: BS in Chemistry
Undergraduate GPA: 3.4

Graduate school:Top 20 engineering school in the US
Graduate major: PhD in Material science
Graduate GPA: 3.8

GMAT: 760 (M51, V42, AWA 4.5)

Working experience:
-Engineer leadership program, 1.5 years(GE)
-2 Years of Product development. Lead a couple of key projects. Filed five patents. Organized a series of company-wide training seminars. (Our business unit was acquired by another company recently)

Extracurricular involvements
President of the student council in high school
Head of the sports department in the Student council in college
Vice president of the Chinese Student Association in Graduate school
Organizer of a local badminton club
Lead the local chapter of the Women's network in the company

Target Schools: Columbia, NYU, HBS, Wharton, MIT
Post-MBA career interest
Plan to go back to China and work in Operation management or Marketing in a chemical company

Dear mentos:

I cannot say whether you will be admitted as that is never something you can predict. Based on what you posted, I would say you have a competitive profile for the programs you target. For any applicant, but international applicants in particular, it is imperative you communicate in your application a solid rationale for why you want your MBA, how it makes sense for your career path, and why the school is a good fit for you. You must distinguish yourself by highlighting your unique attributes and what value you will add to the MBA programs.
