again i am not sure about my explanation. but here goes nothing....

i think ' as many ' cannot be used along with 'than'...thus eliminating the first 3 choices...and the usage of the verb is wrong in option d

It is E because "as many .. as" is the right construct for comparing two clauses, in general when you need to compare two clauses then one must use "as" or "as .. as" form, i.e here as many .. as

this ensures both logical as well as structural parallelism.
