Hi,

My profile: Male / Indian / 30 / 7 years work ex / 700 (QA:45 -71 %, VA:40- 89%) / non-IT background

- Already have an MBA from a tierII school in India

- undergrad (77%) PG (3.6/5)

- Domain: sales / marketing & financial services analytics

- Work profile: Currently setting up & leading analytics efforts for a leading rating company as a manager in India

- Extracurricular: good (associated with an NGO for the last 4 years)

- Good leadership engagements

- International experience: total 6 months

Post MBA: (i) Strategy Management Consulting (I see a good fit in transitioning from analytical consulting to strategy consulting)

I am looking to apply to
(i) Richard Ivey
(ii) Oxford
(iii) Cambridge
(iv) Cornell AMBA

Dream Schools: I would also love to apply to INSEAD, and LBS but given the GMAT score am not so sure about the chances!

Can you please evaluate my profile and let know my chances?

Hey Samarpan,
First of all, the school list you gave is a good one. And yes, you can definitely add INSEAD to the list. A 700 is a very good score. OF course, as usual you will have to heavily emphasize your achievements, promotions and leadership experience to promote your application. but other than that there will be two key elements to helping you get in
1. Dealing with the "Second MBA" - This is an ABSOLUTE must for you to have a chance. You have to make VERY very very convincing arguments about a)Why you need an MBA b) why you need it now c)Why you need it even though you already have one. You have the give the school the feeling that you will come out of this with a lot of added value, that will help you succeed, and therefore the school as well
2. Standing apart - You didn't go into tooooo much detail about your background, but whatever it is you do have in your stories, you really do have to shoot for uniqueness, so that you stick out in the mind of the Adcom.
