Masters Distance Program

by thestartupguy » Tue Sep 06, 2011 12:15 pm
I am an Indian applicant with GPA: 7.8/10 in engineering. I plan to take up MA Econ (distance program)
for two reasons:
1) My interest in Econ, I would have gone for Econ if not for engineering
2) My plan to score well in the Masters program to cover up the low scores in undergrad.

Please tell me if this is a good idea coz. I will be spending a lot of time and energy studying for the coursework.

Regards.

Dear msr4mba,

It depends on your reasons for the degree in relation to your long-term career plans. If you don't see any value in the MA beyond demonstrating you can do well in coursework, then it might not be worth your time and money. If you believe you need the MA to facilitate a job search, put you on course to actualize your short and/or long-term career goals, then it probably is worthwhile. Only you can determine if this MA is the next step for you.

Good luck,
Lisa
