new job - cannot get reco!

by radically » Sun Sep 04, 2011 1:49 am
Hi,

I am applying to 3-4 US bschools (kenan flagler, emory, yale - are on my mind) in Round 1 this year and had a major query.

my background: 2 years in IT followed by 1 year in marketing and currently I have been working with two non-profit organizations for the past few months - one fulltime (3 months till now) and one part time (5 months till now).

Really confused about who to get the recommendations from. I cannot get one from my current full time supervisor because it is just too early to ask! I can get one from my part time supervisor (they know me better, but would it count - as I work as a consultant for them). And probably another reco from my IT manager. Would that do?

I'm really confused and am worried like crazy that this might eventually kill my apps. Would appreciate some advice and direction! Thanks so much for patiently reading all this

You can get a recommendation from your part-time supervisor. But the question is, if you have been there for so short do you want to? Maybe its stronger to get a recommender from a previous employer. At any rate, no need to flip out, if you can't get a recommender form your current supervisor, it IS something you need to explain but it is something that can be understood.
