A. Minivans carry as many as seven passengers and, compared with most sport utility vehicles, cost less,

re read the option A.

Minivans carry as many as seven passengers and,[Minivans] compared with most sport utility vehicles, cost less, get better gas mileage, allow passengers to get in and out more easily, and have a smoother ride.

I guess A is correct here. D is close. but it wrongly modifies the minivans and tries to say that the author is talking about only those minivans which can carry 7 passengers
This time no looking back!!!

D. Minivans, carrying as many as seven passengers, compared with most sport utility vehicles, cost less,
E. Minivans, which carry as many as seven passengers, compared with most sport utility vehicles the cost is lower, and they

Here the comparison is b/w Minivans and Other sport utility vehicles.....nit b/w minivasna carrying 7 passengers and other sport vehicles.......So, in D it clearly states that Minivans ,modifier, its comparison......... Also, the parallelism is maintained.

OA is D

IMO A is the only possible answer here.

D is a little ambiguous as pointed out, and thus can be eliminated.
Please press "thanks" if you think my post has helped you.. Cheers!!

I agree with the explanation the choice is between A and D. The rest obviously can be eliminated due to the introduced pronoun error. The parallelism is maintained in both A & D. I would go with A as D makes an incorrect comparison between sport utility vehicles and minivans that carry passengers

I think there are 2 problem with Statement D. Minivans, carrying as many as seven passengers -- this conveys the meaning as if we are talking about the specific case of minivans carrying 7 passengers. Secondly, the use of 'They' is ambiguous.

IMO --A. Clearly conveys the intended meaning. The comparision is also correct.. Minivans to Sports vehicles

A +1
Furthermore, D also conveys that while the comparison was made the minivans carried seven passengers, which is certainly wrong as the sentence conveys something generic.

Hence A.

Hi Killer,

C suffers from two problems-

1. they is ambiguous
2. comma + and [Fanboys] rule states that the part after it should be an IC but over here ,and have a lower cost is not an IC
