What are my chances?

BBA in Finance (school was ranked in top 15 for undergrad business, not sure if that matters)

2 years of work experience in consulting

3.05 GPA
660 GMAT

25 year old black male

I am confident that I can bring up my GMAT score, but how much of a deal breaker is my GPA? How much do I need to boost my GMAT score to get into one of the top MBA programs?

Dear burn,

Your GPA is not a deal breaker. With a strong GMAT and professional experience, you can provide evidence of ability and motivation. I think having a GMAT score closer to the average of your targeted schools, ideally at or above, would be most helpful. However, I would not rule out your application if the GMAT is within the mid-80% range either. Since decisions are made on your entire application package, you will have your essays, resume and recommendations to make a compelling case for your admission and demonstrate your ability to succeed in the classroom.
