Hi frnds,

I took GMAT last year and scored a dismal 620.. I re-did my strategies and took GMAT last week and scored 690 (Q48 V35). I was scoring around 730 in MGMATs and was confident that I would be able to cross the 700 mark but I guess I could not control my nerves on the D-day.

I have about 8 yrs of experience in the energy sector (natural gas)in India with one of the biggest players in this sector in India. I have project as well as safety engineering experience and I've grown from an intern to middle management over the period of time.

After the 620 last year, I applied to a few Bschools ranking around 30 but did not make it. This year I plan on applying to ISB again and colleges ranked in the range 25-30.

The basic difference in my study plan from last year was that I had a more structured approach and was more sure of what I was doing this time. I followed Manhattan this year as against Kaplan last year. I surely rate MGMATs higher over Kaplan GMATs (personal opinion only)

In short, I believe GMAT is all about getting the basics right and keeping your cool on the test day. There are better advises on this website and hence, I will stop my free advise here...

Regards,
Vijay

690 in GMAT and 8 years of experience in energy sector make you a strong candidate for ISB.

Best of Luck!
