I am a Software Engineer, done my engineering in Comp Science from India from a leading University.

Aggregate - 73%.

HSBC Bank (Technology Department - Inv Banking) - 3 yrs
Work Location - Pune (India) - 2.5 yrs, HSBC GHQ London(UK) - 6 Months
2 promotions ---Last worked as Sr. Software Engineer

Wells Fargo & Co. Bank (Technology Department - Anti Money Laundering) - 1 year
Work Location - Hyderabad(India) - 9Mnths, Wells Fargo, Minneapolis(US) - 3Mnths ( Still Working)
Presently working as Technical Specialist

Preferences :

A one year MBA(because it would save my time - you comments are welcome) in one of the top 50 colleges of the world with a maojr in Finance.

Aiming at - Nanyang Singapore, Said Business School, ISB India, INSEAD France, CEIBS China, AGSM Australia. NUS Singapore.

Queries

Which college should be the most appropriate to apply with this profile.(I can also think on 2yrs MBA if it is really worth)
Is there any college in US which provides 1 yr MBA
Do I stand a chance in any of the colleges I mentioned above.
What is the best time to apply

Please help me with your advise. It would be a great help.

Dear AK:

I would encourage you to visit the sticky on school selection for tips on evaluating these programs. You should also research the class profile of each program to determine what might be a weakness for you (i.e., is your GMAT/work experience/GPA below the average?). There are a few one-year programs in the US but they are generally for people with an undergraduate degree in business. The best time to apply to any MBA program is in the first two application rounds.

I am a bit confused at the moment as I hear that 670 is a low GMAT score and with this score, it would require a real good profile to get into a good college.

With the above mentioned profile, I wanted to seek your advise if it is overall competent enough to move ahead and aim for some of the top 30 colleges.

Dear AK:

670 is actually a good score. However, it might be below the average for many top 30 schools you are looking at as possible programs. As stated in my previous response, you need to research the programs you are considering and evaluate how your profile measures against the class profile to determine your chances of admission and whether you need to find other programs where your profile is a closer match.
