I am sure that a similar topic might have already be discussed on this forum in the past. But I am new here and this is my first post. I did my masters degree in Manufacturing Systems Engg., a multi-disciplinary course between manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering and operations management. I have a 3.7 GPA in my masters and good undergrad academics as well. I was a research assistant and a teaching assistant with my professor during my grad school tenure. (in addition to this I have a 4 and a half years full time experience in the Manufacturing / quality and process improvement fields, and one year experience as a student consultant for 2 mid-western companies through my university). I am planning to apply for an MBA in Operations.

Firstly, I was wondering as to how will my masters degree be counted in my overall job packet.
And secondly, which transcripts would I have to supply in my B school application. Grad school or Undergrad or both?

I would appreciate if anyone could help me with these questions.

Thanks in Advance!

A Masters degree is certainly a nice-to-have in your application. Especially if it is a from a good university with a decent grades (3.7). You will be required to provide both your transcripts - grad and undergrad.

However remember that this is 1 aspect of your application which gets addressed: ACADEMIC POTENTIAL i.e. your ability to handle course-work. You will still need to address other aspects including the most important of them all - WHY MBA?

Thanks Arun. That was quick and of course helpful.
I understand that there is a lot more that needs to be addressed to as far as the complete application is concerned, to make it as wholesome as possible.
But since I did my undergraduate degree from India I was trying to figure out by when would I need the transcripts to be here by.

Thanks again for the prompt answer. Appreciate the help.

Hi Hardik,

MS in Manufacturing engg definitely helps because of 2 reasons. Firstly since you have taken some education in US, US schools value that a lot.

Secondly since you are planning to do an MBA in operations ( such as MIT LGO or Kellogg MMM program) your MS degree in manufacturing will help you stand out from rest of the applicant pool who cant offer that.
