Part-time Programs

As a career changer, I'm interested in going to a full-time MBA program. My perception, however, is that admissions into part-time programs is less competitive. Would a part-time MBA from a school like Booth or Haas have more value than a full-time MBA from a program ranked outside the top 10?

Dear Toddius,

If you want to make a significant career change, then a full-time program is probably your best option. The break on your resume allows you to redirect your career and gain experience with an internship. How much "value" one attributes to a degree is subjective, so I would not say a degree from one school is more valuable than from another school. The main contributing factor to a successful career change is you--your efforts on the job search including networking and interview performance. While a career change is possible from a part-time program, it is often more challenging as you do not have much time left after work and school to focus on your job search.
