Triangle!

If two sides of a triangle are 12 and 8, which of the following could be the area of the triangle?
1)35
2)48
3)56

A) 1 only
B) 1 & 2 only
C) 1 & 3 only
D) 2 & 3 only
E) 1,2 and 3

OA will come. But first of all , i need your explanations!

Area of triangle with two sides known is the maximum when the two given sides are mutually perpendicular. Hence, if two sides of a triangle are 12 and 8, then its area cannot exceed ½ × 12 × 8 = 48. Only (1) and (2) will do.
