please advice

by sudgmat08 » Thu Mar 20, 2008 3:35 pm
Hi.. today I gave GMAT and ended with disappointing score of 510. This is one of the lowest I have got till now. Even in practice test I use to get 540-600.

Kaplan test – 540(around)
GMATPrep 1 – 550
GMATPrep 2 – 600

I am feeling very low. I prepared for nearly 3 months and ended up like this.
The only drawback I have is reading speed. And this was reflected when I was taking test also. I was not able to register any question in my brain so was more or less superficially marking the answer.

I have not read a lot of literature i.e. books and don’t have great written English. But to perusing MBA is my dream. Is it possible for me to work upon my shortcoming once more and improve my score to 680+ if I really concentrate on my reading and comprehension ability in next 6 months. Or is it true that on an average there is only 30+ marks improvement that is usually possible.

Please advice. I am really worried.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your post.

An improvement of around 100 points is very demanding but definitely not impossible. If you have time and resources, you can probably consider personal training. You have not shared details of your prep but for the test scores. You could definitely improve your reading speed and that will help you understand questions in the test conditions.

This forum would be glad to help you on any questions you may have.
