How long after app do you get letter?

by Wayward-Bound » Tue Jul 05, 2011 4:24 pm
So with the applications about to open up over the next few weeks I've already taken the gmat, lined up my recommenders, and cleaned up the resume. In addition I've written 2 of the 4 necessary essays for Tuck with my 3rd nearly finished. My question is, after the application is open and you finish all the requirements, how long after do you typically wait to get your interview and/or admission decision? Do they really wait until the deadline, review all apps, then send out decisions or are admits on a rolling basis? This is primarily surrounding Tuck, Harvard, and Kellogg. Thanks.

(I have not applied to these univs but speaking from my own experience last year)

If they have rolling admissions, the applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and decisions given out in the same way.

If they have normal deadline based admissions, then you have to wait till decision day. They will review all applications of a particular deadline and then give out decisions. Sometimes (very few times), they will announce a few days earlier but not that many days earlier.

For interviews, you may get an invitation as soon as they are done with an initial review their applications.

Kellog's has a special process in which they have outlined the process in their deadlines page.

Thanks

Vineesh,
Just telling you what I know and think. I am not the expert. :)
