SBC Success Rate

by OneQuickQuestion » Wed Mar 26, 2008 4:35 pm
Just a quick question -

The Stacy Blackman Consulting website claims a 97% success rate at getting clients into at least one of their top schools. However, when I look at sites like admissions411 I notice a number of people that used SBC and still got dinged at all their schools. It doesn't seem like there should be many examples of this with a 97% success rate. Further, in talking with candidates from past years (BW discussion board and such) it seems that this percentage has been unchanged for some time. Is that because the statistic is a bit dated and based on admits from a few years ago? Does SBC consistently get 97% of their clients in year after year? If this statistic is old, do you have an updated success rate?

Btw, this is by no means intended to be some kind of interogation! I'm just trying to decide what consulting firm would be best for me and I've noticed that a lot of consulting firms tend to throw these success rates around. Obviously, there are many other important factors in choosing a consultant and I have had SBC personally reccomened by a friend who's opinion I trust - so I have high regard for your firm and it's fairly likely that I'll end up using SBC. However, this has just been sort of bugging me so I wanted to ask you about it.

Thanks

Dear OneQuickQuestion:

Sorry for the delay in responding, but I wanted to get the most up to date information from Stacy on your question. The 97% success rate refers to the 2006 application season, as that is the most recent season that we have complete statistics on. We are still waiting for all of this year's results, although so far, they have been very strong (including a high volume of scholarships), even with the drastic increase in applications at top schools. Please note that the success rate refers to our 4 school package, which has historically been our most popular package.
