Low GMAT score -560 need help

by aditya1984 » Thu Jun 23, 2011 6:27 am
Hi All, I appeared for GMAT yesterday and landed with unexpectedly low score of 560(never got less than 610 in any practice test).
I know its really low but need advise on if I can apply to any good collages of US,UK or Canad or other places.
Profile:
Overall experience = 4 years
Origin: India
GMAT score: 560
GPA: 3.1
Can get good recognition letters from my collage professors and company seniors.
Active member in NGOs(social work)
I am open to Online MBA programs and full time MBA programs.
Any help/expert advise would be helpful.
Thanks in advanced

Can you name what kind of good colleges you are looking for? And is that IT experience?
Vineesh,
Just telling you what I know and think. I am not the expert. :)

I think that you should retake your GMAT. You are not that far behind the GMAT average for very good schools such as Babson College, Notre Dame, Tulane and such. If you are frustrated and don't want to take the GMAT again, I would focus on European Business Schools which can accept lower GMAT scores if you have a well rounded profile (work experience, good grades, reference letters, etc.). Nonetheless, my advice is to retake the GMAT and aim for a 640 - 650 which can get you into very good schools in the US. Not the best, but good enough for a solid MBA. Keep your chin up!

I know how you feel since I had to take the GMAT 4 times. In my first attempt I got a 450, in my second attempt a 500, in my third attempt a 570 and in my last and final (thank God!) I got a 640. This was sufficient for me to gain admission at Mannheim Business School in Germany. Don't let the GMAT break you and just take it with a very strategic and philosophical approach. Besides, it is just a test.

Hi aditya1984,

If you're interested, here's an article about B-schools that don't necessarily require the GMAT: https://www.ehow.com/how_5251905_reputab ... -gmat.html

Cheers,
