r = 1 + 2xy + x²y² = (xy + 1)²

Statement 1: r = (xy + 1)² = 0 --> xy = -1

Sufficient

Statement 2: Value of xy doesn't depend on the value of x only.

Not sufficient

The correct answer is A.

(xy+1)^2 = r

a r=0 = (xy+1)^2

xy= -1 sufficient.

b x>0 y can have any value. Not sufficient.
