INSEAD or ISB Admission

by arnabis2good » Thu Jun 09, 2011 7:47 pm
I have the following score (GMAT):

Verbal : 39/87%
Quantitative : 42/61%
Total : 660/82%
Analytical Writing : 5.5 / 77%

From Engineering background, working in IT for a reputed company for last 7.5 years, working as a lead for last few years. Out of that 2.5 years in India and 5 years in US. Though I know the score is not great (especially expected more in Quantitative section), I want to give it a try to get admission into INSEAD or ISB if feasible. Do you think it is possible with this score? Any suggestion for other schools in India?

Regards,
Arnab.

Dear Arnab,

I think it will be quite difficult to overcome your GMAT score for INSEAD and ISB relative to the applicant pools at these schools. While I do not have all of the relevant information, it seems your background and work experience puts you in a large subset of the applicant pool where the GMAT trends much higher. I would never go so far to say it is impossible to be admitted with your current score, but I do think your chances are low. Perhaps consider retaking to increase your quantitative score? INSEAD in particular looks for applicants to be in the 80% or better on both sections.

Good luck,
Lisa
