I need a 480, I'm wondering how much time I need to put in..

Hello,

I am new to the GMAT test and am researching a bit about it. I recently found out that the baseline score is 480 to get into the B school I would like to go to. Obviously I would like to do the best I can, but I am trying to gauge how much studying I need to do and how much time I should take. I have my test scheduled for August 20th.

Where you are currently will define what you need to do to get wherever you want to reach. If you are already at a 600 - it might be tough to go "down" to a 480 :O)

I suggest you take a full-length test (downloadable from mba.com). That should tell you where you need to get. Depending on your scores we can suggest what you need to do (nor not need to do!)

I agree with Arun, you simply need to gauge your current score and see how far you are from your target score. If you score really high, then you don't need to study very hard.

On a side note, 480 as a "baseline" to get into business school is really not the right mindset to put yourself in. Business school is not a light investment and if you're not swinging for the fences, why play the game at all. Just my opinion.
