Low verbal score

I didn't know were to place this topic, so I did here. I will have to do the GMAT on 15 June. A couple of hours ago I took the manhatten Cat Exam and scored really low:

TYPE SCORE ESTIMATED PERCENTILE RANK
Quantitative 36 48 %
Verbal 15 7 %
Total 430 19 %

I have been practicing math for like 3 weeks now, because I didn't have a math background. A lot of things were new for me. So I haven't been practicing verbal yet, but this score seems really low! I am not a native english speaker by the way. I need to get a score of 550 - 600 to get accepted on the university. I have to get this score before 15 August.

What do you guys think? Can I still do it? And what kind of study plan would you suggest?

I always believe getting around 600-650 in GMAT isnt that difficult..provided you have your basics clear and have your mind in proper shape on the test day. So concentrate on these two aspects.

Do the OG well. That should take care of the basics.

You mean the official guide? It doesn't have much explenation, just a lot of questions. Currently I am watching video lessons made by gmax. I was really desperate after the 430, but now I am watching these lessons I am getting my courage back a bit. Do you have any tips for me to master the verbal part?

The main thing with GMAT is learning your basics. MGMAT guides are best for verbal because I am using it now. Concentrate well on the basics, read the flash cards again and again. They are awesome in explaining basics.

Practice OG again and again. For mastering the verbal part read the explanations given in the OG carefully.For every question. That ll help you a lot.
