Hi Stacey,

A big goal of mine is to get into a Top mba programm in the world . I grew up in Germany and came to USA after completing my secondary school. I came to the USA to complete a year of voluntary service in Baltimore. I worked in s homeless shelter in Baltimore City for one year and then started attending Towson State University. I now have completed my first year with a 4.0 and dean's list award and I'm planing to transfer. Johns Hopkins University offers a small BS Business and Management program designed for working professionals and it is perfect for my overall needs as a working student.
My questions is Hopkins is relatively unknown for undergrad business and managment and it is a very small program in the Carey school of Business. Should I go to Hopkins and use the Hopkins brand name or I'm I better of with University of Maryland, Georgetown or George Washington for getting into a top mba programm ? Please help me

Dear Onkey:

When MBA admissions staff evaluate undergraduate transcripts, they are looking primarily at your grades in quantitative classes, any trends, and your overall performance. The school you attend only comes into play when assessing how much one 3.2 measures up to another 3.2--is the undergraduate school more or less selective/competitive than another. All of the schools you mention are good schools, so I think you need to choose the one that is the best fit for you. Once you get there, work hard and get the best grades possible.

Good luck!

Thank you sooo much for your help !
I'm right now deciding between University of Maryland Smith school of Business or Johns Hopkins Carey school of Business for my undergrad. The first is a solid well known program in a good state University and the other one is a unkown program at a excellent private Universitys. Personally I like the Hopkins program but nobody ever heard of this undergrad Business Program. So what should I do ?

Dear Onkey:

You should select the program that is the best fit for you. Johns Hopkins and Maryland are both great institutions, so I don't think you will make a wrong choice.

Lisa
