we need a reason over here why does king ought to have his marriage innulled and for introducing a reason we need usage of "so x that y" therefore, option D is correct.........and adding to this "so x that y" is an idiom

i don't think there is any such rule that the use of so that is wrong.

C is wrong because annulling the marriage to Catherine does not result in Henry being married to Anne; it results in his being ABLE TO marry her.

There's nothing wrong with "so that" for expressions of purpose.
