can someone please explain me, in what contexts 'so as' is considered correct by GMAT?

Ram studied hard so as to get a salary hike. //wrong
Am I right the above sentence is wrong?

Ram has completed the homework so as his brother.
Is the above usage correct? If so, what is the explanation?

'So as' is never correct on the GMAT.

Correct Usage:
So [adjective] as to [verb]
Correct: Her debts are so extreme as to threaten the future of the company.
