Validity of TOEFL score

by g.shankaran » Sat May 21, 2011 2:55 am
Hi,

I have taken TOEFL iBT on Aug 28th, 2010 and got a score of 110. I am applying for Sep 2012. Do I need to give the test once again? I have been hearing that score should be valid on the date of joining the school.

Please clarify.

Thanks
Shankaran

Dear Shankaran,

Great question. TOEFL scores are valid for 2 years. The question is where the school draws the line on that 2 years. Is it at the date of entry? or is it at the date of application? Unfortunately, there is not consistency on that answer. I would suggest verifying with any school you apply to if your score will be valid.

Good luck,
Lisa
