720 Q49, V39 (95th percentile) AWA 5.5

Finished the GMAT!! Glad that's over with, so glad that I don't have to take it for a second time. I've frequented this forum for the past couple of weeks, and have benefited from some of the advice/tips that were provided by other users.

As such, I hope to do the same by providing some anecdotal advice. AWA was very easy, was originally sweating it because of my lack of preparation, but reading over 800score's AWA guide a few times was very helpful. I learned to take note of key words rather than memorize a specific template (for ex: argument relies on questionable/optimistic assumption, correlation/causation, validate the assumption, faulty reasoning, causal connection). For the issue segment, I looked over some historical and academic materials.

Some information about myself--recently graduated from college in US, will be entering the investment banking industry. Preparation time was 6 weeks, with about 20 hours per week devoted to studying.

Test day: be aggressive and paint a positive mental picture. This was stated elsewhere in the forum and it really is great advice. Picture receiving the score you want and never doubt yourself during the test.

I found the Quantitative section to be virtually identical in difficulty to GMATPrep software, and much easier relative to Manhattan GMAT's section. On verbal, the difficulty was very similar to that of MGMAT.

Thus, doing OG problems would be essential in preparation, as they accurately portray the difficulty of the real exam.

Materials used: MGMAT 8 guides, OG 11 (all 3 guides)

Practice exam scores:

MGMAT #1: 640 Q43, V34 (no studying done yet)
MGMAT #2: 680 Q48, V35 (2 weeks later)
MGMAT #3: 680 Q48, V34
MGMAT #4: 680 Q47, V35
MGMAT #5: 710 Q48, V39 (4 days before test)

GMATPrep #1: 680 Q48, V35
GMATPrep #2: 700 Q48, V38
GMATPrep #3: 750 Q50, V42 (saw repeats from OG)

awesome...great job on the great score. your practices seem very similar to how i'm doing. you think the MGMAT verbal was similar to the real thing? everyone seems to say that MGMAT verbal questions are too easy...i never found that to be true. i've taken 3 MGMATs so far (690 45Q,39V, 670 47Q,34V, 690 47Q,37V) and 1 GMAT prep (49V,39V).

im taking it march 24th. any advice you could give me? i finished all the OG quesitons...i'm reviewing the ones i got wrong or took too long on. what do you suggest i study from here on out? i want to be as prepared as possible on test day...

thanks for your help!

Those are great practice scores! That's similar to what I did, I completely about 80% of all the OG questions in all 3 guides, and redid a lot of the questions I incorrectly answered. I would suggest to take some more MGMAT exams, or even try the Kaplan 800 book. But completion of the OG problems would hold precedence and it seems that you've done that already.
