There is 2/3 split owing to "dictate(s)" between A, C, D, and B,E.
All options with "dictates" are wrong because the nouns "Investment houses" and "Insurance Companies" are plural.

B is wrong too as the parallism is missing in the subclause of "Insurance companies"

This IMO, Ans: E as it maintains ||ism in subclauses and subject is followed by correct verb form.

financial institutions = plural = face (a/c/e)
investment houses = plural = dictate (e)

But i have question regarding "those"..it is unclear... I would have gone for C if it has 'dictate'
First take: 640 (50M, 27V) - RC needs 300% improvement
Second take: coming soon..

The option C starts with a subclause which ends with ";" which is wrong as a subclause cannot stand alone with ";" but needs ",". Also the present participle in "the financial investment houses..." does not have its parallel equivalent in the following subclause "the insurance companies that underwrite credit swaps...". It could be "the insurance companies that underwriting credit swaps..."

IMO E .

But i am skeptical about the word "those" used in option E . Is it required there if we can edit that option ?
Thanks & Regards,

I would go with E.
D is also gramatically correct but changes meaning.

Correct me if i am wrong.

I would also go with E..........

i was between B and E but in B i felt the usage of "the investment houses holding a significant number" was not parallel with rest of the sentence.............

Ohh!! this means

the investment houses holding... and the insurance companies underwriting .... ( this would have been parallel)

but i used to think that only the first word matters?? is it mandatory that verb form or construct should be same too?

Please suggest.

in B i found that

the investment houses holding a significant number of subprime mortgage loans and the insurance companies that underwrite credit swaps obviously dictate

while in E i found "that x || that y"

those investment houses that have a significant holding in subprime mortgage loans and those insurance companies that underwrite credit swaps obviously dictate
