Hi HSPA i know by the book Gerunds are not preferred over infinites. How ever i strongly feel in this question a gerund is needed because its the "introduction" which is causing a significant edge. Hence i feel B should be a better answer. however i would really want an expert to comment on this one....

being can be used in passive voice of a progressive tense.

C = year's advantage = wrong
Between B and D,
We need the gerund (noun) form.

If the OA is not E, don't worry about this question. None of the other answer choices can be correct.

In B and D, by a year earlier is not idiomatic and has no clear meaning. Eliminate B and D.

In C, advantage to is not idiomatic. The correct idiom is an advantage in X.

In A, a year advantage in a new computer product has no clear meaning. The intended meaning seems to be a year advantage in the introduction of a new product. (Even then, what is the exact meaning of a year advantage?). Eliminate A.

The correct answer is E.

While being is to be avoided, it is used correctly in E and has appeared in the OA to a few GMAT SCs.
