Henrik Ibsen's plays posed as great a challenge to middle-class Scandinavians' expectations of the drama that almost a century later Edward Albee will offer to theater-goers in America.

that almost a century later Edward Albee will offer

that, almost a century later, Edward Albee would offer

as, almost a century later, Edward Albee did offer

just as, almost a century later, Edward Albee offered

as, almost a century later, Edward Albee would offer

OA: later... as I havent even understood the stem i want to see your explantations.. thanks in advance

took a guess.. with E
two issues tense and idiom
1)tense
first sentense.. past tense..posed..
second sentense..should be future in past... i prefered would or simple offered..so A is out
2)idiom: as great as..so C or E...

It's comparing Ibsen's plays to Edward Albee, though. It really ought to be a comparison of plays to plays, or playwrights to playwrights. I don't think any of the answers would be right on the GMAT.

henrik's theme of play > middle class people's expectations

so

Albee's what is > theather goer's expecations

This "what" is missing here....

@HSPA

Buddy, please consider this as a humble request...please use the underline option to underline the questionable part in your questions...in that case it would be easy for the viewers to answer

Thanks
