Please evaluate my profile for MBA programs at (Rice, MIT, and Harvard)

Male, 34, Asia, Residing in US

BS Mechanical - Asia
MS Mechanical - Tier III US

GMAT = 600

Work experience = 10 yrs for a fortune 100 company in US.

Managed mostly assets and resources but no direct personnel administration. Very diversified experience in terms of meeting people from different background and working international.


Can provide some excellent recommendation letters.

I can write some above average essays. Do I stand a chance at top 5 MBA programs?

applying from the engineering pool as an international applicant, your GMAT is going to be too low by itself for top 5, but it's not all about the GMAT. The key is standing out in your applicant pool, though and a 600 GMAT is going to stand out in a negative way, since most international applicants with engineering background who are applying to top schools are going to be posting 700+. The fact that you have 10 years of work experience, but not much leadership may also be a concern especially at Harvard, who always looks for impressive leadership in applicants' backgrounds. You might have a better shot at an Exec. MBA at the top 5 which targets professionals with 10+years WE. These programs are easier to get into and some do not even require the GMAT at all.
